The experience with auditing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provides the backdrop to further strengthen the role of SAIs in the Recover Forward paradigm. Given their unique position in and knowledge on the public sector, Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) are well placed to profit from their role in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, which involves issuing specific recommendations for the Recover Forward process. The paper “Recover Forward: Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in Fostering Resilient and Sustainable Recovery Processes” identifies inroads for SAIs to strengthen their contribution to Recover Forward. Recommendations for German development cooperation to strengthen SAIs with regards to sustainable development and Recover Forward were drafted.
