Mobilising investments in order to finance the required transition towards a more sustainable way of doing business is an increasing global priority. In Brazil, the Green and Sustainable Finance Project (FiBraS) of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH aims to improve the framework conditions for growing green and sustainable investments. FiBraS works with its partners to increase transparency and improve environmental, social and governance (ESG)-related risk management in the country’s financial sector. At the same time, the project helps to expand the financial products and services needed for financing sustainable development. As Brazil's precarious economic situation has been significantly exacerbated by the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, these efforts help underpin key requirements for a sustainable recovery.
