Supreme audit institutions (SAI) can play an important role in responding to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis while contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. In Guatemala, the 2030 Agenda-Project of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenabeit (GIZ) GmbH aims to strengthen the organisational capacities of the national SAI, the Office of the Controller General of Accounts. Through this cooperation, performance audits are schedules for 2021/2022 that will consider the effects of the pandemic, including chronic malnutrition in children under five (SDG 2) and the impact of interventions to reduce violence against women (SDG 5, SDG 16), as well as the SDG 3 provision of public health services not related to the COVID-19 response.
